The grands and I spent today checking out a couple venues during the Central Coast Railroad Festival, specifically the SLO Railroad Museum and the Oceano Depot/SLO Model Railroad Association.
Parlor Car Chat: Ten Central Coast Railroad Festivals

Jack Hutchinson and I teamed up today to do this Chat on the Central Coast Railroad Festival (CCRRF) over the years. Jack showed a video of model layout clips from 2016 through 2019 and narrated live over it. I shared some pictures and stories of events and participants starting in 2009. Even Curtis Reinhardt, founder of the CCRRF, had forgotten about some I dug up. Good thing I have photos! A link to a recording of this online session can be found here.

The San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum (SLORRM) joined up with the SLO Art After Dark program to exhibit painters, photographers, and videographers of railroad-themed works. And there was a slideshow there of my photos. Fabulously successful event for the Museum! That’s my slideshow running in the upper-right portion of the photo. Here’s the SLORRM webpage.

I gave a talk on the SMVRR at the SLO Railroad Museum on Saturday morning. I also gave a talk Thursday evening at the SLO Library entitled “Railroading Galore in the Greater SLO Area” (PDF of the slides). All the photos, schedule, etc. are still available at the CCRRF website. I particularly enjoyed the participation by the Jack House and the SLO History Center.

The 2013 Central Coast Railroad Festival is “in the bag”. It was a jammed pack weekend of activities, and I think I got to fewer venues than ever myself this year as there was so much happening. Anyway, photos are indexed here.
