Friends of the SMVRR Tour the SLO Railroad Museum

The Friends of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad visited the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum today for a private tour followed by lunch (of course) at Del Monte Cafe (right across the street from the Museum). All the photos.
Vandenberg Harbor

Many times I’ve pointed from the train to the “Vandenberg Harbor” and told fellow travelers that rocket segments come in by boat now and then. But I’ve never actually seen it happen before. Well, here we go! I have this vague recollection of helping get funds to dredge that harbor in a previous life. See the train go by in the background (left) at the 4:15 mark (or so). All Aboard!
The rails of a railroad track are kept shiny on the top by the regular passage of trains. Thus, "To Shiny Rails" is the battle cry of my personal effort to keep railroading activities of all kinds available to as many people as possible. It's tantamount to exclaiming "Keep those trains a rollin'!". And with any luck at all, I'll personally be on as many of those trains as possible! To shiny rails, Jamie
