Karl sent me a photo today of our two ex-PBJRR switches in place at Bitter Creek. Pretty cool, huh!

Huskie Update

by on Feb.20, 2019, under BCWRR, PBJRR

The Huskie is all spiffed up and out and about. Mike Massee caught this photo of Paul running the Huskie at Bitter Creek Western’s Presidents Day Meet this past weekend. Click here for more on the Huskie story.

The Huskie is Re-Born

by on Feb.06, 2019, under BCWRR, PBJRR

You may recall that the 7.5″ gauge division of the PB&J Railroad was abandoned in May of 2018 (story/pics). All of the physical assets were donated to the Bitter Creek Western Railroad. Here’s the rest of the story for the Huskie… Paul Deis bought it from the BCWRR and has just finished getting it all back up to snuff and added to the livery of the D&P Mountain Railroad. The D&P is a g-scale layout at his place. The g-scale D&P has been on the model layout tour of the Central Coast Railroad Festival, for example, here. The Huskie, however, is going to be running at Bitter Creek and perhaps other 7.5″ gauge railroads.

Part of the story of Trevor and the initial build of the Huskie in 2007 for the PB&J is here and here. It first ran on the PB&J on the occasion of Fina’s first birthday party.

Below are a couple photos of the Huskie today as part of the D&P. Lookin’ good!

End of an Empire

by on May.06, 2018, under BCWRR, PBJRR

Update: Some PB&JRR switches are already being installed at BCWRR.

The last remaining track and right-of-way of the PB&J Railroad was pulled up today and donated to our good friends at the Bitter Creek Western Railroad. The 7.5″ Nipomo branch of the PB&J was the only 7.5″ gauge track on the system. Everything else was G scale and has been abandoned as well. Only mementos lay around these days, and a ton of photos. Very fond memories. We’ve already begun our enjoyment of various railroading opportunities throughout Colorado. PB&J website.

Art After Dark at SLORRM

by on Jul.07, 2017, under Amtrak, BCWRR, CCRRF, Friends-SMVRR, PBJRR, PCRR, SLORRM

The San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum (SLORRM) joined up with the SLO Art After Dark program to exhibit painters, photographers, and videographers of railroad-themed works. And there was a slideshow there of my photos. Fabulously successful event for the Museum! That’s my slideshow running in the upper-right portion of the photo. Here’s the SLORRM webpage.

12 Years BCWRR.ORG

by on Jun.10, 2015, under BCWRR

I just recently passed the 12-year mark of doing the website for the Bitter Creek Western Railroad. It’s a very old design (sort of Jurassic in html history), but still seems to do the job. Very photo-heavy site (many of which I’ve taken over the years).
