I’m pretty sure “false shunt” means an unintended and problematic short in a circuit. In this case, a railroad signal circuit. We managed to eliminate some possibilities, but didn’t get it fixed today.

Friends of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad had a booth today at the Goleta Railroad Days. Activities included handcar rides, tour of the agent’s residence, 7.5″ gauge train rides, exhibits by Amtrak, Operation Lifesaver, etc., and the first public appearance of Ken Kelley’s very cool model of the Santa Barbara train station.

Saturday the Motorcar Operators West (MOW) speeder group ran on the Santa Maria Valley Railroad. The Friends of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad helped out immensely – see more pictures of their support efforts. On Sunday, the group enjoyed a visit to the Bitter Creek Western Railroad thanks to Karl.
