We had a few multi-ride tickets to burn, so how ’bout a run to Santa Barbara? OK!

Surfliner Adventure with the Cousins
by admin on Jan.15, 2017, under Amtrak
Trevor and I took the kids on a Pacific Surfliner adventure today, a quick Grover-SLO-Grover trip (tickets are pretty cheap with multi-ride tickets). First weekend on the Surfliner for Stone’s new Tangerine Express IPA (gotta try it if you like IPAs). We spent our hour in SLO at Mitchell Park just 3 blocks from the train station.

Great Lodges by Train

The four of us took a fantastic trip to Great Lodges of the northwest this August. We road Amtrak’s Coast Starlight to Klamath Falls where we got off and headed over to Oregon Caverns. Then north to Mount Hood and Mount Rainer. We boarded the Starlight in Seattle for the return home. All the photos (lots).

I gave a talk on the SMVRR at the SLO Railroad Museum on Saturday morning. I also gave a talk Thursday evening at the SLO Library entitled “Railroading Galore in the Greater SLO Area” (PDF of the slides). All the photos, schedule, etc. are still available at the CCRRF website. I particularly enjoyed the participation by the Jack House and the SLO History Center.
